Sommerfly™ Products began in 2005. We set out on our journey to deliver sensory-based products of the highest quality design and construction that would truly improve the lives of those in need.
Sommerfly began when co-founder Kristi Langslet, a practicing Occupational Therapist since 1988, designed and made products for her clients to meet specific needs related to Sensory Processing. Sleep, calm and focus were some of the primary challenges of her clients in the Therapy Clinic in which she worked.
As positive feedback of improved sleep and focus and calm rolled in it became very clear what Kristi had created worked and worked well. This didn't happen by pure chance but rather through countless hours of design and function testing directly with her clients. Kristi was insistent that Sommerfly™ products not only had to work well but also be of a quality that would benefit customers for many years to come.
Through investigation of the most current research and Kristi’s product testing with many different people and age groups, the results were achieved, improved sleep, focus and calm!
Sommerfly™ Products are characterized by Kristi’s thoughtful designs; ergonomic to stay on the body, sensory-smart fabrics that are comforting to touch, materials that are exceptionally durable and easy to clean, user-friendly details such as product tags that include size/weight specifics for users and wearing time recommendations. It was dedication to these details, hard work and persistence that created the Sommerfly's™ brand trusted and loved by health care professionals and our customers.
Kristi Langslet,OTR/L received her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from Colorado State University in 1988. She did her NDT Training (Neuro-Developmental Training) in 1999 and received her SIPT Certification (Sensory Integration and Praxis Certification) in 2002. Following another of her passions, Kristi received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sculpture from The Rhode Island School of Design in 2006. Kristi and her sister Heidi Hall started Sommerfly™in 2005. Kristi assumed sole ownership of the company in 2017. Along with running Sommerfly™ she has worked as an Occupational Therapist since 1988 helping children, adolescents and their families live life to its fullest.
